Decking Installers in Wallsend: Prices

A published figure gives you a starting point, and your own garden does the rest. Here are the numbers, what moves them, and a helper for working out how big your deck really is.

The published figures

£2,189published average for a decking job
£1,417 to £3,394the usual spread

Source: Checkatrade’s decking page for Wallsend, read on 5 November 2026. It is a regional figure rather than a survey of NE28 jobs.

Think of it as a yardstick. That single average takes in every kind of deck, large and small, and does not separate board types. A compact softwood deck on a level plot may fall below the range, and a large raised composite build can sit well above it. No figure here is a quote: only someone who has seen the job can give you one.

Enter rough measurements in metres. This shows the size of your deck and how much of the outdoor space it would use, together with any extension or outbuilding already standing there.

A rough guide for planning your deck, not a planning decision. Measure the ground outside the original house. The decision rests with North Tyneside Council.

Making a budget stretch

Shrink the deck before you downgrade the frame. A smaller, well-built deck outlives a larger one on poor supports, and it is cheaper from the first joist to the last board. Keeping the shape to a plain rectangle saves cutting and waste.

Mixing materials can also help: composite on the surface you see from the kitchen, and simpler timber on steps or side runs. Think about timing too. Fitters often fill their spring and summer diaries early, so getting figures together over winter gives you longer to compare and decide.

If planning looks likely, allow for that before fixing a budget. Time and fees for an application sit on top of the build, and it is better to know at the start. Our planning page shows the limits to check.

Comparing quotes fairly

The cheapest figure may simply leave things out. Check that each quote states the board and its range, the frame timber, how the frame is supported, who removes the waste and what is covered by any guarantee. Our questions for fitters help you ask the same things of everyone.
